When a clean fracture of an anterior tooth occurs, if you have access to the fractured portion, your dentist may try to “put the pieces back together”.
If the fractured part is not salvageable, the dental restoration will be done using a composite that looks as good as a natural tooth.
Dental adhesive is used for bonding broken teeth.
It is a resin cement that offers perfect adhesion to enamel and dentin with invisible or tooth-like color for clean and durable dental restorations.
It is a relatively painless treatment that usually does not require anesthesia.
If you want to restore several teeth, you will need to make several appointments.
It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to restore or bond a chipped or broken tooth.
The dental bonding process
First, your dentist will roughen the surface of the tooth to be repaired, then apply a conditioning solution to help the bonding material adhere to the tooth.
Next, your teeth doctor will apply the bonding and restorative material to the tooth and shape it into the desired form.
Finally, the dentist will harden this material with ultraviolet light or laser to prevent the bonded area from moving or becoming loose.

Durability of a dental bonding
Dental bonding is generally used for front teeth because these are teeth that do not usually participate in the chewing process.
Restorative resin is not as strong a material as a natural tooth.
Because of this, you will need to be careful when biting down on the bonded tooth.
If you bite your nails, crunch ice cubes or chew your pens with the restored tooth, you may chip it.
Avoid staining foods and drinks for 48 hours after your treatment.
The resin used for dental bonding can be stained easily during the first 48 hours after treatment.
Avoid tea, coffee, wine and other drinks or foods that may stain your teeth for the first two days after treatment.
However, if you brush twice a day and floss gently once a day, the resin material should last for several years before it needs to be replaced.
